There are many ideas and techniques we have had to employ the get the right effects over the years here are just a few, In order to get the right shades of cloth or the right pattern if can't be found in a shop I have often applied the technique of dying the cloth either tie dye or a straight flat colour dye to achieve just the right colour.

Most often the best thing to wear under chain mail in order to make it more comfortable to wear is a quilted material this can be incorporated in to most costume designs but can also make a very warm costume for cold winter nights or just a stunning feature to make a costume really stand out in a crowd quilting a section of cloth is a long and painstaking process but in the end well worth the effort I feel if it what makes the costume special totaly worth it.

Many people's characters belong to houses or knightly orders which require them to wear house colours or heraldry we can offer either painted heraldry or the much more popular technique which is otherwise know as decoupage incorporating a layering cloth and embroidery technique.

All items can be trimmed with a huge range of ribbons and cloths, and of course if you wish lining and pockets can also be added to your costume.

Leather work can be embossed, dyed, painted or studded with any number of colours or patterns.

If however you have a pile of cloth lying about that you always meant to do something with but just never seemed to have the time there are various people who send us there materials along with what they would like made and then we only charge for the time spend creating the items, the same with items which require altering a favorite dress that doesn't quite fit anymore or a pair of pants that has split, post them to me or drop them off at one of the many events we attend over the summer and I will repair them for the cost of the time spent repairing the item.

Don't be fooled by the impression custom costume means expensive or elaborate, indeed a lot of the items I am asked to produced are often a simple robe or tabard, as for cost well a pair of bracers can vary from £15 anything up to £45, or a tabard £8 to £50 it entirely depends on what you have in mind, but one thing we can guarantee is it costs nothing to ask for a quote and you have nothing to lose in doing so, you might get a nice suprise. Always we prefer to ask for a picture to illustrate what you are looking for, it makes it so much easier to create what you want if we know what you are thinking of, however this is not completely necessary, simply a good description will often do.

Of course we do require for people to send us a set of there measurements in order to get the right fit, a copy of how to take the measurements and a information form can be found HERE. remember when taking measurements it is very important to be honest I deal with allot of people large and small and all information given to us is kept confidential and impartial

The bride's dress-

I was asked to design a dress based on an image that the bride had seen and liked the colour scheme and design of, after shopping for fabrics and trims with the bride I created this dress.

It consisted of a steel boned over bust corset in ivory embroidery angeles finished with cream satin and a gold plated busk, which was worn underneath the dress with a cream cotton crinoline (bellshaped cage) and long cream cotton bloomers, the main dress was made from ivory liquid satin finished with coffee coloured twist and ivory lace inner sleeves and pannier.

Bridesmaid's dresses -

The bridesmaids outfits were then based on the same colour scheme and the brides dress but consisted of a cream cotton shift with a calf length circle skirts in ivory satin, a steel boned over bust corset in matching ivory satin finished off with coffee coloured satin bias binding and the same gold plated busk as the brides corset.

Isabella's Dress -

I was asked to come up with an idea for a dress in dark blue velvet I had some good ideas but when I saw this dress it was the perfect design so I decided to make a dress in the style of the beginning of season two, BBC's Robin hood Isabella Gisborne

This dress is a two piece, the under dress is a plane crape duchess satin dress in near navy blue, it has been made to be form fitting and laces up at the rear with tight sleeves that button at the cuff, the upper part of the dress was lined but I didn't line the lower part of the dress so as to not make the whole dress to hot to wear. The over smock is made from velvet and trimmed with silver braid with slices in the front rear and both sides laced together with a criss cross blue braid the contrast in texture between the velvet and the under dresses satin makes a really nice feature.

Georgeian style dress -

This Georgian style dress was a in character wedding dress I was asked to make, I was really pleased with how this turned out and the material it was made of was a real find.

I made this as a two piece, one part being the top and the skirt the second, the top was lined with cream cotton to give it some extra strength and help it keep it's shape better and lightly boned with plastic boning then trimmed with cream twist around the elbows and also the neck and bottom of the top.

The skirt was fastened at the back with a button and a hidden zip.

Cultist robes -

This robe is a recent project , I was sent the picture beside the robe as inspiration and asked to copy it.

Made from Black and red velvet, and lined with cotton, and embroider with arcane runes and a black flame upon the chest this robe was a beautiful creation.

Military Red Coat -

I was recently commissioned to make this coat and leather baldric harness for a rifleman /soldier character, also in the picture is the image sent to me to use as inspiration.

An original coat of this time period would have been made using wool cavalry twill, but in order to keep cost low I used red cotton drill lined with brown cotton liner and finished with a cream trim and brass buttons, this also has fully working pockets to keep bits an bobs in.

The baldric harness was made from brown split hide leather and finished with large brass buckles, with a twin drop scabbard to one side.

The Artful Dodger -

This coat was designed using the artful dodger from 1968 film of Charles Dickens Oliver as an inspiration, the client wanted this coat for an illusionist she was playing so I adjusted it to give more flattering female contours and the client wished for a black lining rather than the black and yellow striped one seen in images from the film, I was extremely pleased with the result.

This coat is made form royal blue Wool and lined with a viscose liner, it is made in the Double breasted style popular from 1837 to 1910 with a black wool upper collar and finished with silver buttons.

Eidolon -

I was asked some years ago to create a costume for an Eidolon one of the races at Maelstrom so along with the client I came up with this -

Comprising of black velvet long waist coat, trimmed with gold ribbon with white cotton panels, and logo placed on panels, white damask robe, lined with white wool with turn up sleeves fully reversible, black velvet sash and white hard leather samurai style armour bound with golden ribbons.

Reversible Gnoll -

I wasn't told when I was asked to make this reversible black and white robe what its purpose was except that it needed to be black and white, fully reversible and of course made of fabrics which colours wont run in the wash also the client wanted it to have pockets, and I think it turned out really well -

Black drill full length front opening robe, lined with white satin fully reversible with a huge hood and really big pockets on both sides.

Breast plate -

For those of you who haven't met me hello this is me modeling my breastplate, I have had real problems tracking down anything I could use as a phys rep for a platemail breastplate that would fit me, I found this leather breastplate in 2007 from eldritch and a few months later decided to try my hand at plating it.

I bought some sheet metal already bronze in colour and some tin snips and followed the lines already in the design of the breastplate, but I am no blacksmith so in order to get around the problem of creating a nice finished edge rather than turning or welding the edges to make them safe and have no points, I cut small strips of fine leather and sewed them along one edge and then attached them using industrial glue around the edges of the cut metal, I finished the whole process of by riveting the metal plates on to the leather breastplate and all in all im very happy with the result.

Air Wizard -

this was created for an air wizard with inspirations taken from a lot of places, the client intended to wear chainmail with this outfit so I decided to make it in two layers.

The first layer (right) is made of dusky blue spun suede and is also lightly body fitted so as to give some shape rather than billowing out, they also have silver quilting across the shoulders to help make the chain a bit more comfortable in the areas where it will weigh heaviest.

The second later (Left) is a navy blue wool outer robe fully lined with blue cotton, two front pockets and a hidden pocket on the left side and inside pockets for all the books and other bits and bobs that are needed for wizzarding, I also put a bit of extra room in to this robe to allow for any extra bulkiness that wearing the chainmail would cause and finished it off with a standard sized hood with a very exaggeratedly long point.

Ice Sorceress -

This was a piece I created for an ice sorceress I created, I was told the colour palate I had to work with was whites and grays and possibly small amounts of light blues, but I decided to go with the whites and grays and came up with this -

This is a gray floor length wool robe, body fitted and fully lined with white dress liner, this is designed to be all one piece so as to not take to long to put on but due to the it being so well fitted it has a hidden zip at the back so as to make it allot more easy to get in and out of.

It has a quilted breast with lace up detail and matching fitted inner sleeves and is finished off with a huge hood which is also lined and trimmed with fine long haired white synthetic fur.

Crystal Tricorn -

This base black felt hat, and the cloth was given to me by the client, his idea was that he wanted a hat that looked like he had grown it from the same type of crystal his character was made from.

I cut the pieces from the fabric as close to the shape of the hat as I could and then used a strong fabric glue to mold and glue the fabric to the hat I finishing it by adding a black trim round the outside of the brim of the hat so as to tidy us any loose edges and prevent the material from snagging and coming loose.

Green dress -

This was a costume designed for the same wedding for one of the guests.

Green floor length velvet dress, trimmed with silver ribbon with a matching waist sash in silver and square neck detail.

Mandoralen -

This is a Mandoralen, normally this design would incorporate a button up front and high neck detail but I was asked to leave these out of this particular item, this style of cloth was popular from 1625 - 1685 and is perfect for any musketeer style costume.

This was made from black velvet lined with scarlet satin and trimmed with silver ribbon designed to match the sun burst fleur delese style logo embroidered on the front in silver and gold.

Underbust Corset -

This corset I made because I required one for a character concept I had had for a new character I had started to play in one of my own systems.

This was made to a Victorian girdle underbust corset style.

It was made from black taffeta embroidered with Lilly's, and has sixteen steel bones in it not including the busk, it has been trimmed with black satin edging and laces up at the rear for a good fit, it is backed on black canvas over laid with cotton and made to fit a size fourteen.
